I have been a therapist for over 20 years happily serving Tacoma and surrounding areas. My background is in Buddhist Psychology, which is inherently client centered. We start with the goals you bring and focus on both the how and the what—not just talking about issues but actually changing patterns. My work is all about facilitating people into the easy day-to-day integration of body-centered mindfulness, which is the key to living an empowered life. I love the ‘rubber meets the road’ teaching of consciousness concepts and translating cutting-edge tools into layman’s terms. I am most interested in the day-to-day integration of user-friendly practices. When working with me, we focus on your current concerns while simultaneously increasing your body and emotional intelligence.
Issues include: anxiety, depression, workplace issues, interpersonal issues, parenting, attachment issues, trauma (current and history), couples conflicts, behavioral concerns. Most people who come to counseling are seeking help with a pattern of concerns. People don’t typically come in because of one fight with their spouse or one anxiety attack.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
By the time people seek support they realize that they keep repetitively recreating the same situation. Try as they might to change, they keep getting the same results. We will address the content (issue) and the context (how the issue is recreated) to create lasting change in your life.
Diesel works with me in the office to assist people in feeling relaxed as we explore together. We passed the Delta Society Therapy Animal Team exam when Diesel was 2 years old.
“Acknowledging fear is not a cause for depression or discouragement. Because we possess such fear, we also are potentially entitled to experience fearlessness. True fearlessness is not the reduction of fear, it is going beyond fear” “
